On June 21, 2009 charter school administrators, teachers and education entrepreneurs from around the U.S. gathered in Washington, D.C. for the 9th annual National Charter Schools Conference.
For four days conference attendees listened to speeches from prominent figures in the charter school movement, including U.S. Education Secretary Arne Duncan, Gates Foundation U.S. Programs President Allan Golston, D.C. Schools Chancellor Michelle Rhee and New York Schools Chancellor Joel Klein. They also participated in sessions designed to help them promote, strengthen, and better manage charter schools in their local communities.
I was a part of a three person team that reported and blogged about the conference for News21.
